Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2009-2010
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
thermal analysis
Remarks:
Differential Scanning Calorimetry
Melting / freezing pt.:
-60 °C
Subl. temp.:
°C
Remarks on result:
other: Glass transition

A reproducible glass transition was found at -60°C in the 2nd heating.

An endothermic peak starting at about 240°C onset shows the vaporization of the test substance.

Exothermic reaction was not observed up to 500°C.

No melting point was found between -100°C and vaporization of the test substance.

The estimated accuracy is +/-1°C.

Conclusions:
No melting point was found between -100°C and the vaporization of the test item.
A reproducible glass transition was found at -60°C.
Executive summary:

In this guideline (OECD 102) study conducted with GLP certification, the test material (EC 231-272-0) was determined to have a glass transition point of - 60°C.

Description of key information

Study conducted to recognised training guidelines with GLP

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-60 °C

Additional information

The measurement was carried out by DSC.

No melting point was found between -100°C and vaporization at 240°C. A reproducible glass transition was found at -60°C.
