Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
1 012 mg/L

Additional information

Up to the tested concentration 1012.5 mg/L no relevant and significant effect was observed.

The results for the EC50 and the EC20 (both > 1012 mg/L) are based on the nominal loading of the test item. The test item used for the respiration inhibition test consist of a mixture of two different graphite qualities, representing a typical spectrum of graphite's impurities.

In conclusion, neither the material graphite itself nor its impurities reached concentrations where aquatoxic effects on algae occured. The substances graphite is considered not to be toxic for microorganisms (STP).
