Description of key information

After evaporation or exposure to air 4-nitrotoluene-2-sulphonic acid will be slowly degraded by photochemical processes.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The rate constant for the reaction of 4-nitrotoluene-2-sulphonic acid with hydroxyl radicals in the atmosphere was estimated by the SRC AOPWin v1.92 program as 0.412E-12 cm³/molecule*s. From this rate constant half-life for the reaction of OH radicals with 4-nitrotoluene-2-sulphonic acid is calculated as 38.94 days assuming a 24h-day (BASF SE 2009).
