There are no reliable
short-term invertebrate toxicity data available for the registered
substance that represent exposure solely to the hydrolysis products,
therefore good quality data for an appropriate structural analogue,
(3-chloropropyl)trimethoxysilane (CAS 2530-87-2, EC 219-787-9) have been
read across. Both substances hydrolyse to the same silanol hydrolysis
product, (3-chloropropyl)silanetriol. The other hydrolysis products are
ethanol and methanol, respectively.
A 48-hour EC50 value
of 869 mg/l (nominal) (highest concentration tested) has been determined
for the effects of the read-across substance
(3-chloropropyl)trimethoxysilane (CAS 2530-87-2) on the mobility of Daphnia
magna (Evonik Degussa, 1994). In view of the test media preparation
method and exposure regime it is likely that the test organisms were
exposed predominantly to the hydrolysis products of the tested
substance. The nominal test concentrations are supported by DOC
