Description of key information

Log(Kow) for PPVE at 21.9°C was determined to be 4.0±0.05 (RSD=1.3%) under the conditions of this study.

The partition coefficient n-octanol/water of PPVE was determined according to U.S EPA guidance document OPPTS 830.7550 “Partition Coefficient (n-Octanol/Water), Shake Flask Method” and OECD 107 “Partition Coefficient (n-Octanol/water): Shake Flask Method”.

Duplicate samples of PPVE were prepared in each of the three octanol/water ratios (1:1, 1:2, and 2:1). Each test vessel was dosed by adding the appropriate volume of PPVE solution prepared in n-octanol to an appropriate volume of water. The entire volume of the two-phase system nearly filled each test vessel helping to minimize loss of material due to volatilization. All vials were then rotated 180° about their transverse axis for 100 times for five minutes; the test vessels were then centrifuged for 15 minutes at 1500 RPM to ensure a visibly clear separation of layers. The test vessels were left to separate overnight. Duplicate aliquots from the aqueous and n-octanol phases were carefully removed, diluted, and analyzed separately using GC/MS.

Log(Kow) for PPVE at 21.9°C was determined to be 4.0±0.05 (RSD=1.3%). The method uncertainty was calculated to be ±6.58%.

This is a guideline study conducted under GLP compliance. Therefore, it is considered reliable without restrictions and a key study.
