Additional information

A key study to determine the partition coefficient of the registered substance was conducted. The partition coefficient of the test substance was determined in accordance with the EU Testing Method A.8. as part of a study assessing the behaviour of the substance in water. The Log mean P for all determinations was -0.43. In additon, an equivalent study was conducted on the structurally similar substance 6 -[(p-Tosyl)amino]hexanoic acid, compound with 2,2',2''-nitrilotriethanol (1:1) (Tosyl salt), which gave a mean Log P of -0.41. Results are also available from a study on a formulated product containing the registered substance which gave a Log Kow <0 -2.01 (OECD 117). The partition coefficient of a formulated product containing Tosyl salt was found to be Log Kow <0. Read-across between the registered substance and tosyl salt, and a formulated product containing tosyl salt, is considered justified owing to the structural similarity of the two substances. Both are salts of a carboxylic acid and triethanolamine. The acid components are structural isomers and differ only in the position of a single methyl group in the N-methyl salt. This is not expected to change the behavior or properties of the substances, and both substances have shown similarity in the results of other physical endpoints such as water solubility.
