The registered substance did not demonstrate any hydrolysis potential during the 7 day testing period.

The hydrolysis potential of the registered substance was determined in accordance with the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals 111. Recoveries at ambient temperature and at 50°C were investigated (see 'Hydrolysis_key study_50°C' for the results of the 50°C investigation). The results for Day 2 indicated that recoveries at pH 4 and pH 7 show no significant differences between ambient temperature (22.4°C) and 50°C storage. At pH 9, there does appear to be a significant difference between ambient and 50°C storage, although the high recovery value obtained at ambient temperature could be anomalous when compared to the results obtained at other pH conditions. To check for further evidence of degradation, a further timepoint was analysed after approximately 6-7 days. Although there are some differing trends observed for the test data, there is no significant evidence for degradation of the test substance over the 7 day period of the study. In addition, a further hydrolysis study was conducted on a structurally similar substance to the registered substance i.e. tosyl salt. The tosyl salt also demonstrated no hydrolysis potential during the 7 day testing period at both 22.4°C and 50°C. Read-across between the registered substance and the test substance (tosyl salt) is considered justified owing to the structural similarity of the two substances. Both are salts of a carboxylic acid and triethanolamine. The acid components are structural isomers and differ only in the position of a single methyl group in the N-methyl salt. This is not expected to change the behavior or properties of the substances, and both substances have shown similarity in the results of other physical endpoints such as water solubility.
