Additional information

A fully reliable experimental study was provided for the determination of explosive properties of 2-PN, with regard to sensitivity towards heat and shock (friction not required for liquids).

However, this test conducted according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) classification criteria cannot be extrapolated to Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP) criteria, as the testing strategy and study design are significantly different.

Nevertheless, according to the screening procedure described in the CLP, the structure of the substance does not contain any chemical group associated with explosive properties. Moreover, the historical knowledge of the substance confirms the absence of hazard. Therefore, no further testing is required.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is NOT classified as explosive according to DSD annex VI criteria, based on experimental results.

The substance is NOT classified as explosive according to CLP criteria, based on the structural formula.
