Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on reliable data, the test substance is readily biodegradable and meet the 10-day window.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The test substance is highly volatile. Thus any test design should have used closed or sealed vessels. Two studies are available. Yet Berti (2001) used a modified Sturm test which is not suitable for volatile substances and thus has been disregarded. De Nadai (2009) on the opposite used a closed test system and followed inorganic carbon. This last study is extensively detailed and show 83% of biodegradation of the substance after 28 days. All validity criteria were met for validation of the study and criteria of the 10-day window. Thus, according to de Nadai (2009), the substance is readily biodegradable meeting the 10-day window.
