Description of key information

For transported isolated intermediates according to REACh, Article 18, this endpoint is not a data requirement. However, data is available for this endpoint and is thus reported under the guidance of "all available data".

MITI, 1992

In an experimental study similar to OECD guideline 305C, the BCF in Cyprinus carpio after exposure to 3-nitrotoluene over a period of 6 weeks was determined at two dose levels:

Concentration in environment / dose level : 25 ppb(w/v); BCF values: 0.47 - 8.5

Concentration in environment / dose level : 2.5 ppb(w/v); BCF values: 3 - 12

Conclusion: The available data indicate that 3-nitrotoluene can be considered as non accumulative (all reported BCF values are far below 2000) and the substance will thus not bioaccumulate significantly in fish.
