Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice: First aider needs to protect himself. Place affected clothing in a sealed bag for subsequent decontamination. Plan first aid action before beginning work with this product.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Consult a physician after significant exposure.
Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. Call a physician if irritation develops or persists.
Eye contact: If in eyes, rinse with water for 15 minutes. Keep eye wide open while rinsing.
Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink. Consult a physician if necessary.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray. Foam. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry powder.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet.
Specific hazards during fire fighting: Combustible liquid. Liberates poisonous gas.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Full protective suit. Self-contained breathing apparatus (EN 133).
Specific fire fighting methods: Use appropriate means for fighting adjacent fires. Cool containers / tanks with water spray. Evacuate personnel to safe areas.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Remove all sources of ignition. Do not breathe vapour. Wear suitable protective equipment. Keep away from flames and hot surfaces. Mark the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorized personnel. Signal word. Only qualified personnel equipped with suitable protective equipment may intervene.
Environmental precautions: Dam up. Do not allow uncontrolled discharge of product into the environment.
Methods for Cleaning or Taking Up:
Recovery: Keep in properly labelled containers with a closing device. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Neutralization: Absorb residues with: Sawdust.
Decontamination/cleaning: Wash off with plenty of water.
Disposal: Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".
Handling and storage
Handling:
Technical measures: Vapour extraction at source. Earth the equipment used to transfer the product.
Advice on safe handling and usage: No smoking.
Storage:
Technical Measures for storage: The floor of the depot should be impermeable and designed to form a water-tight basin.
Storage conditions:
Recommended: Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed and dry.
Incompatible products: Strong oxidizing agents.
Packaging Measures:
Packaging conditions: Plastic drum, Steel drums varnished with epikote., glass bottles. General purpose stainless steel tankers.
Packaging materials - Recommended: Stainless steel, Polyethylene, glass.
Packaging materials - To be avoided: Iron. Ordinary steel.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.
Control measures:
Engineering measures: Facilities and equipment easily cleanable. Avoid splashes. Maintain air concentrations below occupational exposure standards. Assessment of surface contamination and of dermal risk.
Personal protective equipment:
Respiratory protection: In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter.
Hand protection: The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. Gloves must be inspected prior to use.
Skin and body protection: Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.
Eye protection: Goggles.
Hygiene measures: Emergency equipment immediately accessible, with instructions for use. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Use clean, well-maintained personal protection equipment. Store personal protection equipment in a clean location away from the work area. Shower or bathe at the end of working. Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Keep working clothes separately. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Protective measures: The protective equipment must be selected in accordance with current CEN standards and in cooperation with the supplier of the protective equipment. Selection of appropriate personal protective equipment should be based on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the protective equipment relative to the task(s) to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and/or potential risks during use.
Stability and reactivity
Stability: Stable at room temperature.
Hazardous reactions:
Materials to avoid: Strong oxidizing agents.
Hazardous decomposition products: Reacts slowly on contact with water, releasing (Methanol). On combustion or on thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases toxic gases. (Carbon oxides (CO + CO2)).
Disposal considerations
Product Disposal:
Prohibition: Avoid release to the environment.
Advice on Disposal: Must be incinerated in a suitable incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities.
Advice on cleaning and disposal of packaging:
Measures for waste avoidance: Do not dispose of with domestic refuse.
Advice: Carefully drain and then steam clean. Dry using dry nitrogen. Re-usable containers: Reuse or recycle following decontamination.
Note: Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
