Additional information

No data on the potential of methyl salicylate to be hydrolysed and photodegraded in water and soil is available. However, these removal processes are not considered as predominant as the substance is readily biodegradable. However, as any ester, methyl salicylate is subject to hydrolysis to form the corresponding acid and alcohol, that is salicylic acid and methanol.
