Additional information

The acute toxicity of γ-butyrolactone (GBL) to aquatic algae (Green alga) has been tested according to German Industrial Standard DIN38412, Part 9 in two separate studies (BASF, 1988) and the results have been recalculated according to OECD TG 201, as adopted 23 Mar 2006. These studies yielded 72h EC50 values of >1000 mg/L and >500 mg/L, and 72h EC10 values of 50.8 mg/L and 84.4 mg/L. These results indicate that GBL exhibits a low order of acute toxicity to aquatic algae.
