Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As the substance is also naturally occurring and its uptake and metabolism is highly regulated in organisms no negative effects on sediment-dwelling organisms is to be expected. The substance is considered as inherently biodegradable and is very fast photochemically degraded based on a calculated half life of 1.7 h (AOPWIN 1.92, 06.02.2007). Therefore, no indirect or direct exposure of soil and sediment is to be expected and no tests on sediment-dwelling organisms are required.

Furthermore, the substance is commonly used in food and feed applications (as Vitamin E supplement and antioxidant) is therefore considered as safe for the environment.
