Description of key information

Read across data from the stereo isomer d,l alpha-Tocopherol are available to evaluate the toxicity against algae of mixed-Tocopherol. The 72h-EC50 and the NOEC of the substance towards Selenastrum capricornutum was > 25.8 mg/l (measured) and thus clearly above the limit of water solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
25.8 mg/L

Additional information

Read across data from the stereo isomer d,l alpha-Tocopherol are available to evaluate the toxicity against algae of mixed -Tocopherols. The toxicity of the read across-substance towards Selenastrum capricornutum was tested according to OECD Guideline 201 under GLP conditions. (Grade, 1995). The 72h-EC50 and the NOEC of DL-Alpha-Tocopherol towards Selenastrum capricornutum was > 25.8 mg/l (measured) and thus clearly above the limit of water solubility.
