Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Resuts of a guideline study of inherent biodegradability conducted according to EU Method C.9 indicated 98% biodegradation in 5 days (BASF AG 1993). The rapid decay of the test substance in this study indicates that 1,4 -Butenediol (B2D) is readily biodegradable. The estimate of biodegradability calculated using BioWin v. 4.10 also predicts that 1,4 -Butenediol is readily biodegradable (BioWin v4.10 2010). This determination is supported by results of a second guideline-equivalent study for inherent biodegradability of B2D and read-across to the results of a guideline study for ready biodegradability conducted using 1,4 -Butanediol.
