First-aid measures
There are no documented cases known to Syngenta Crop Protection AG of cloquintocet-mexyl intoxications.
So far no adverse effects and no compound-related clinical symptoms have been reported by personnel handling cloquintocet-mexyl
We are not aware of any information on effects of exposure of general population to cloquintocet-mexyl
The main metabolite is CGA 153433 the free acid of cloquintocet-mexyl. There may be rather unspecific signs such as effects on body weight and kidney at high doses.
No effective antidote for cloquintocet-mexyl intoxication is known. Symptomatic treatment may apply.
Dermal contact: wash with plenty of water and soap.
Eye contact: flush eyes with plenty of clean water for 10 minutes, consult a physician if irritation should occur.
Ingestion: call for medical advice; do not induce vomiting.
Inhalation: remove from danger zone and seek medical advice.
Effects of cloquintocet-mexyl poisoning in man are not known, as to date there are no cases reported. At high doses effects on body weight and kidney can be expected. In addition the compound may cause sensitization by skin contact
The MSDS contains some ijformation relating to firstaid measures:
Protection of first -aiders - protect yourself and any casualty from further exposure/contaminaton during decontamination procedures
Remove contaminated clothing
Ingestion - if swallowed rinse mouth with water providing patient is conscious; Do not induce vomiting. Keep patient at rest and sek medical assistance.
Inhalation - remove affected persons to fresh air. Kep patient at rest and provide oxygen if breathing difficulties occur. Artificial respiration may be applied if patient has stopped breathing - use bag and mask or disposoable resuscitaion equiipment to avoid cros contamination
Eye contact - Irrigate affected eye with copious amonts of water, holding eyelids apart, Repeat at 15 minute intervals. Seek medical attention
Skin contact - wash affectedskin with water, seek medical attention
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media - alcohol-resistant foam; dry powder or carbon dioxide. Water spray
Fire fighting equipment - use elf contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing
Combustion causes toxic fumes. Contain run-off in temporary earth barriers. Do not allow to enter drains, sewers or water courses
Accidental release measures
Ensure suitable PPE including respiratory protection is used during removal of spillages
Environmental exposure controls - avoid release to environment. Sweep up spilled material. Avoid dust generation. Wash spill areas with water.
Refer to MSDSfor full details of exposure control measures and suitable personal protection equipmet
Handling and storage
Handling - use only in well ventilated areas. Avoid inhalation of vapours and direct contact with test material. Wear suitable protective clothing
Storage - Keep container tightly closed in a cool place. Keep container dry and in a well ventilated area.
