Additional information

Few long-term toxicity tests have been carried out to study the toxicity of tetrachloroethylene to invertebrates of which the outcomes are in the same order of magnitude.

A 28-day NOEC based upon reproduction of 0.51 mg/l is reported for Daphnia magna (Richter et al., 1983). The test concentrations are measured, the test conditions are fully described and so the result is considered as valid. A lower value of 0.45 mg/l is reported for Mysidopsis bahia (USEPA, 1980); no indication is given as to the test conditions and the result is therefore not considered useful for risk assessment. Another study was less critical.
