Description of key information

The 21d-NOEC (reproduction) is 99.9 a.i./L in a OECD guideline 211 test with Daphnia magna under GLP (reliability 1). The 21d-EC50 for parental mortality is > 99.9 mg a.i./L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10, LC10 or NOEC for freshwater invertebrates:
99.9 mg/L

Additional information

The Daphnia magna Reproduction Test (Semi-Static, 21 d) was conducted as a limit test with the limit concentration of 100 mg/L of the test item N-Methylpiperazine (CAS no. 109-01-3) (batch number 110909-11) according to OECD 211 (2008) from 2012-07-10 to 2012-09-19

The aim of the test over 21 days was to assess effects on the reproduction capacity and other test item-related effects on parameters such as intrinsic rate of natural increase, occurrence of aborted eggs and stillborn juveniles, time of production of the first brood, adult mortality, dry body weight and length of the parental daphnids. N-Methylpiperazine (CAS no. 109 -01 -3) concentration was analytically verified by UPLC-MS/MS in the limit concentration and the control. The measured concentrations of N-Methylpiperazine (CAS no. 109-01-3) were determined to be in the range of 88 to 107 % of the nominal values, demonstrating the correct preparation and the stability of the limit concentration. The results given are therefore based on the nominal concentration of 100 mg/L of the test item N-Methylpiperazine.

Considering all endpoints no biologically significant effect could be determined in the limit concentration of 100 mg/L 1 -methylpiperazine (or 99.9 mg a.i./L) in comparison to the control.
