no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
2012-12-15
Type of method:
equilibrium method closed cup
Key result
Remarks on result:
no flash point up to 100°C

Results of the preliminary test

Atmospheric pressure 98.3 kPa

Relative humidity About 52%

Temperature (°C) Flash point observation
Setaflash display (OT) Setaflash corrected (CT) Corrected to Patm ( C)
79,2 79 80 No
89,3 89 90 No
99,3 99 100 No
109,4 109 110 No
119,4 119 120 No

No flash point was observed up to 120.0 °C (corrected value).

Remark: At 120.0 °C, the test item boiled and overflowed of the small dish just before the presentation of the flame. Then the test was stopped (no main test was performed).

Conclusions:
No flash point was observed up to 120.0 °C (corrected value).
Executive summary:

The flash point of the REACh substance (2-Hydroxy-3-sulphopropyl) dimethyl[3-[(1-oxododecyl) amino]propyl]ammonium hydroxide (EC 242-893-1) in aqueous solution was investigated in a GLP-compliant study performed in accordance with EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point) using a closed-cup equilibrium method. No flash point was observed up to 120.0 °C, temperature at which the test item started to boil. The study was performed on a commercial product (aqueous solution) as the substance EC 242-893-1 is manufactured and used in a liquid form.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The flash point of the substance EC 242-893-1 in aqueous solution was investigated in a GLP-compliant study (Grevin, 2012) performed in accordance with standard methods, without deviations. The study is considered as reliable (Klimisch 1) and was selected as key study for the endpoint.
