Additional information

The experimental determination of the oxidizing properties of the test item was performed according to Carriage of dangerous goods – Manual of tests and criteria (fifth edition) United nations (2009)– O.2 test and GLP. Two deviations were observed during the study.

The 0.3-mm thickness of the aluminium bursting disk differed from the one prescribed by the guideline. This modification did not affect the quality or the interpretation of the results obtained.

The mean pressure rise time obtained with the reference substance (sodium chlorate/ cellulose mixture) recorded was 12164 ms instead of about 2500 ms as expected following the standard procedure. Another batch of sodium chlorate from another provider was tested and the results were similar. As the mean pressure rise time of the test item / cellulose mixture was slower (23700 ms), this deviation was not considered to have affected the quality or the interpretation of the results obtained.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The mean pressure rise time obtained with the test item / cellulose mixture was slower than the mean pressure rise time obtained with the three mixtures of reference item / cellulose.
