Description of key information

In a chronic toxicity test on Daphnia magna for 2-mercaptobenzothiazole a 21-d NOEC of 0.08 mg/l and a 21d-EC50 of 0.33 mg/l were determined based on reproduction. (MITI 1999)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There is no direct data available regarding the chronic effect of MBS on aquatic invertebrates. As hydrolysis product of MBS, a read-across approach from MBT is used to support the toxicity discussion regarding MBS.
