Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The adsorption coefficient (Koc) of MBS was investigated by using HPLC method according to OECD guideline 121 at environmentally relenvant pH 6 and 25°C. The Log Koc of MBS is determined as 2.84 (Currenta, 2010).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Due to hydrolysis, the adsorption coefficients of the degradation products (e. g. MBT, BT and morpholine) are relevant for risk assessment of MBS in the environment. MBT and BT have a moderate adsorption potential in soil/sediment with the adsorption coefficient (log Koc) of 2.51 – 3.55 and 3.0, respectively. Morpholine however has only a low affinity to adsorption with a logKoc of 0.867.
