Description of key information

The EC50-values with 95 % confidence intervals for inhibition of growth rate (ErC50) and yield (EyC50) after 72 hours were 41.3 (39.6 - 42.9) mg/L and 23.3 (19.4 - 27.0) mg/L, respectively. The EC10-values with 95% confidence interval for inhibition of growth rate and yield after 72 hours were 22.7 (20.5 - 25.1) and 13.8 (9.63 - 18.1) mg/L, respectively.

Additional information

The toxicity of the test item, decan-1,2 -diol, to the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to OECD 201 and EC Method C.3.

The study was conducted under static conditions. A stock solution of 100 mg/L was prepared with dilution water and treated with ultrasound. Six concentrations were tested in a geometrical series with a dilution factor of 2, to give nominal concentrations of 3.13, 6.25, 12.5, 25.0, 50.0 and 100 mg/L. Three replicates were tested for each test item concentration and six replicates for the control. The concentrations of the test item in all test concentrations and the control were analytically verified by GC-FID at the start and the end of exposure. The endpoints are based on the nominal test item concentrations.
