Additional information

The substance hydrolyses very rapidly (half-life <<1 min at pH 4, 7 and 9 and 25°C) to trimethylsilanol and ammonia. Trimethylsilanol and ammonia have low log Kow values (<3) and thus have low potential for bioaccumulation, and the requirement for testing is waived.

Ammonia enters the nitrogen cycle and is not expected to bioaccumulate.

Although ammonia is assimilated by aquatic plants for use as a nitrogen source, its bioaccumulation in biota is not important. (Environment Agency, 2007).
