PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
Before the beginning of the test the test solution was treated (8000 rounds) with "Ultra-Turrax" for 60 minutes. The test item settled on the bottom of the flask or, respectively swam on the surface of the test medium. Further not dissolved parts were observed after trying to disperse with Ultra-Turrax.

Remarks:
In the course of the test oxidation processes of the test item (aldehyde -> acid) were expected. These processes were considered to result in a temporary decrease of dissolved oxygen. Such observations were made during the test at concentrations 283 mg/L and 400 mg/L.
The results were calculated using Probit analysis.
Conclusions:
The LC50 was determined to be 199.2 mg/L.
Executive summary:

The study was performed in order to evaluate the toxic potential of the test item towards freshwater fish, using the species Danio rerio in accordance with a correspondent guideline of the Umweltbundesamt Berlin. Ten fish were exposed to the test item for 96 hours in a static test. The following concentrations were tested: 50; 70.7; 100; 141; 200; 283; 400 and 566 mg/L. After 24 h in the141 mg/L solution 40 % mortality was observed. In the control, none of the fish showed signs of morbidity at the end of the test. The pH and the oxygen values were recorded. Due to the test substance's properties a temporary decrase of dissolved oxygen in the test medium at 283 mg/L and 400 mg/L concentration was observed. The LC0, LC100 and LC50 were determined to be 70.7, 566.0 and 199.2 mg/L, respectively.

- In solutions of all test concentrations undissolved parts of the test item (oily drops on the test mediums's surface) remained. After 15 minutes these residues coloured white.
- In the test solution with the concentration 100 mg/L differences in the temperature range outlined in the guideline occured.
Conclusions:
The LC0 and LC100 were determined to be 100 and 1000 mg/L, respectively.
