Description of key information

Decan-1,2-diol reached 60 % degradation after 3 days, meeting the 10 day window criterion within the 28 day test period, and therefore is considered to be readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of the test item was determined in a GLP-compliant Manometric Respirometry Test following OECD guideline 301 F (Maischak 2015). The study is considered reliable and relevant for use for this endpoint.

Decan-1,2-diol reached 60 % degradation after 3 days, meeting the 10 day window criterion within the 28 day test period, and therefore is considered to be readily biodegradable. The results of the study also show that decan-1,2-diol is not inhibitory to sewage treatment micro-organisms
