Description of key information

The water solubilities of DIMETHYLOCTANAMIDE and DIMETHYLDECANAMIDE at 20°C determined by the flask method according to OECD-Guidelines No. 105 (corresponding to EC Guidelines A6) amount to 4.3 gIL and 340 mg/L, respectively. These solubilities, though established only for neutral water in equilibrium with atmospheric carbondioxide, will be similar in the cases of slightly acidic or alkaline solutions (pH 3 to pH 9), because salt formation by deprotonation or protonation in this pH range can be ruled out due to the chemical structure of an aliphatic tertiary carboxylic acid amide of the compound.
