Description of key information

The boiling point of the test material is recorded as being between 95.75 – 131.5 °C. Although a range of data exists it has been concluded, on a worst case basis, that the boiling point is 95.75 °C or 368.9 K

The boiling point of the test material has been addressed on a weight of evidence basis using two literature sources, three data points from QSARs, four company material safety data sheets and two internet sources.

Hawley (1977) and Lide (2009) provide peer reviewed physical data, quoted as found in the literature. SPARC has been used to generate a prediction, based on a validated model. The boiling point is reported to be between 95.75 – 131.5 °C. All three sources have been assigned a reliability score of 2 using the principles for assessing data quality as set out in Klimisch (1977).

Four safety data sheets [TCI Europe (2010), Alfa Aesar (2007), Chemical Book (2012), and Sigma Aldrich (2010)], two internet sources [Chemical book product property and chemical synthesis (accessed 2012)] and data taken from EPISuite have also been provided as a weight of evidence. The sources all report the boiling point to be between 112.0 -131.52 °C. They have all been assigned a reliability score of 4 according to Klimisch (1977) as it is not possible to assess the accuracy of the data from the limited information they provide. There is sufficient consistency between these sources to contribute to the weight of evidence and validate the conclusion.
