Registration/ Notification status for the use:
use registered according to REACH Article 10; total tonnage manufactured/imported >=10tonnes/year per registrant
Contributing activity / technique for the environmentopen allclose all
Name of activity / technique:
E-GES-P1.0 [ERC1]: Two variations have been identified for the production of dicopper chloride trihydroxide by acidification of copper metal prior to oxidation. No wastewater releases.
Environmental release category (ERC):
ERC1: Manufacture of the substance
Name of activity / technique:
E-GES-P2.0 [spERC-M replaces ERC1]: Two variations have been identified for the production of dicopper chloride trihydroxide by acidification of copper metal prior to oxidation. No wastewater releases. Eurometaux SPERC 1.2.v2 used.
Environmental release category (ERC):
ERC1: Manufacture of the substance
Contributing activity / technique for workersopen allclose all
Name of activity / technique:
W-GES-P[PROC1](Medium) Weighing and filling operations. Acidification of copper metal prior to oxidation: Variation 2: Copper metal is mixed with water in a large tank, to which a specific amount of hydrochloric acid is added. The acid solution is then aerated for 24 hours to oxidize the copper. During this time, the acid has lixiviated the copper oxide and dicopper chloride trihydroxide is formed.
Process category (PROC):
PROC 1: Chemical production or refinery in closed process without likelihood of exposure or processes with equivalent containment conditions
Name of activity / technique:
W-GES-P[PROC2](Medium) Mixing, milling, drying. Acidification of copper metal prior to oxidation: Variation 1: dicopper chloride trihydroxide is generated by reacting copper metal with hydrochloric acid solution in presence of oxygen.
Process category (PROC):
PROC 2: Chemical production or refinery in closed continuous process with occasional controlled exposure or processes with equivalent containment conditions
Name of activity / technique:
W-GES-P[PROC3](Medium) Chemical synthesis - precipitation, mixing, milling, drying, filling operations. Acidification of copper metal prior to oxidation: Variation 1: dicopper chloride trihydroxide is generated by reacting copper metal with hydrochloric acid solution in presence of oxygen.
Process category (PROC):
PROC 3: Manufacture or formulation in the chemical industry in closed batch processes with occasional controlled exposure or processes with equivalent containment conditions
Name of activity / technique:
W-GES-P[PROC4](Medium) Production processes, mechanical filtration, filling operations chemical synthesis/lixiviation, oxidating, sedimentation, centrifugation, drying. Acidification of copper metal prior to oxidation: Variation 1: dicopper chloride trihydroxide is generated by reacting copper metal with hydrochloric acid solution in presence of oxygen.; Variation 2: Copper metal is mixed with water in a large tank, to which a specific amount of hydrochloric acid is added. The acid solution is then aerated for 24 hours to oxidize the copper. During this time, the acid has lixiviated the copper oxide and dicopper chloride trihydroxide is formed.
Process category (PROC):
