Description of key information

Half life period of α,α-bis[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-4-(phenylamino)naphthalene-1-methanol (Solvent Blue 4) in water was observed to be 180 days while in sediment it is 1600 days.
The supporting studies also shows half life of α,α-bis[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-4-(phenylamino)naphthalene-1-methanol in water and sediment as 4320hrs (180 days) and 38900 hrs (1620.83 days) respectively.
Based on these half life values it is concluded that α,α-bis[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-4-(phenylamino)naphthalene-1-methanol is not readily biodegradable in water and sediment.
