Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The key study was conducted according to OECD guideline 301 F. After 2.6 days degradation of 10% of the test substance was reached. The 60% pass level was already achieved after 3 days. These results demonstrate, that the test substance is readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria (Dow Chemicals, 1998).

Additionally, two guideline studies according to OECD 306 were performed with saltwater by Eide-Haugmo et al. (2009/2012). In the study from 2009 the BOD was 40% after 28 days (O2 -consumption). In the study from 2012 the BOD was 68% after 28 days (O2 -consumption).

In conclusion, MIPA is readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria).
