The key study assesses the effect of DAPD (Polystay 100) on the respiration rate of activated sludge micro-organisms. The test method is based on OECD test guideline 209 and uses freshly obtained activated sludge from a mainly domestic sewage treatment plant. DAPD is added to the test vessels at 0.2, 2 and 20 mg/L. No dose-response effect on the inhibition of the respiration rate of activated sludge was observed. The 3h-EC50 of DAPD therefore was concluded to be > 20 mg/L.
In the supporting study higher concentrations of DAPD (up to 10000 mg/L) were tested according to the OECD 209 test protocol. Also in this case no substantial toxicity towards micro-organisms was observed.
