Reference
Endpoint:
auto-flammability
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2011-07-11 to 2011-07-15
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Well performed GLP study in accordance with EU Method A15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases)).
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: PFW100113
- Analytical purity: 99.3% (by GC)

STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: the sample is stored in cool, well-ventilated storage area prior to testing.

OTHER SPECIFICS:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): Jeffcat DMDEE
- Physical state: Liquid
Auto-ignition temperature:
209 °C
Atm. press.:
101.6 kPa
Remarks on result:
other: No cool flames were observed. Ignition produced a mixture of orange and white/orange flames and grey smoke.

The auto-ignition temperature was corrected for barometric pressure.

Time lag at the auto-ignition temperature was 136 sec.

Sample quantity: 200 uL.

Conclusions:
The auto-ignition temperature of the substance was determined to be 209 °C at 101.6 kPa.

Description of key information

The auto-ignition temperature of the test substance was determined in a GLP study according to test method EU A.15 to be 209 °C at 101.6 kPa (Younis, 2011).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
209 °C

Additional information

In a supporting study showing insufficient study details (BASF AG, 2001) an auto-ignition temperature of 210 °C was obtained.
