Derivation of DNEL systemic long-term via inhalation route - workers

The substance decomposes during the use application at mining site releasing volatile CS2 from the water solutions. Hazard assessment of the substance is based on this degradation product, since CS2 is the most hazardous degradation product having the harmonized classification as Repr. 2, STOT RE 1, Eye Irrit. 2 and Skin Irrit 2. The occupational exposure limit (OEL) for CS2 has been determined by several European countries varying between 15 mg/m3 - 32 mg/m3 (eight-hour time-weighted average).

Germany = 16 mg/m3

Sweden = 16 mg/m3

Finland = 15 mg/m3

United Kingdom = 32 mg/m3

The DNEL (inhalation) for CS2 is set equal to the lowest European OEL 15 mg/m3.
