Description of key information

The substance is a non volatile solid but used in water solutions. As the substance decomposes in contact with water forming volatile degradation products, the vapour pressure of the most hazardous degradation product (carbon disulphide) was used as a key value in CSA.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
47 kPa
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The substance is a non volatile solid but used in water solutions. In contact with water it decomposes releasing 3-methyl-1-butanol, 1 -pentanol, hydrogen sulphide and carbon disulphide. Based on the weight of evidence approach, the most volatile and hazardous degradation product (carbon disulphide) was used as a key value in CSA. Data was obtained from peer-reviewed secondary source (Cheminfo 2013).
