Water solubility:
625 mg/L
at the temperature of:
30 °C

Additional information

One reliable key study is available for this endpoint. In this study (Kumar M.D. and Gandhi N.N., 2000),the effect of hydrotropes on solubility and mass transfer coefficient of Methyl salicylate was evaluated. Thus, the solubility of a hydrotropes-free Methyl salicylate solution was measured as reference. The analytical method used was a titration method. The Methyl salicylate solubility was sufficiently high to have a reliable result, which is in agreement with the values reported in the literature. All the solubility experiments were conducted in duplicate to check the reproducibility. Different Solubility values depending on the temperature are reported as follows:

- 625 mg/L at 30°C

- 668 mg/L at 43 °C

- 727 mg/L at 50°C

- 770 mg/L at 60°C.

A secondary literature (Gibbs H.D., 1909) is selected as supporting study as it reports similar water solubility of 740 mg/L at 30°C.
