Conclusion on classification

Based on the available data, methyl salicylate is readily biodegradable, not potentially bioaccumulable and the lowest L(E)C50 obtained is between 10 and 100 mg/L.. The only NOEC available is in algae > 1 mg/L.

Therefore, to the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), methyl salicylate is not classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment.
