Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

There are no studies proposed to assess sediment toxicity. Vinyl 2-ethylhexanoate is manufactured under strictly closed conditions and is a fully reacted monomer in polymer formulations. Vinyl 2-ethylhexanoate and other organic compounds are recovered from waste water and incinerated. There is no release of this substance to the environment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Based on REACH Annex IX, 9.1, Colume 2, sediment toxicity studies are not required due to findings of the Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA). Vinyl 2 -ethylhexanoate is manufactured under strictly closed conditions and is a fully reacted monomer in polymer formulations.  There is minimal release of the substance to waste water, and all waste water undergoes organics separation and secondary biological treatment. The recovered organic phase, which contains Vinyl 2 -ethylhexanoate is incinerated. Therefore, there is no release to the aquatic environment.
