Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key result
Atm. press.:
1 013 kPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
ca. 210 - 240 °C

During the measurement there were no effects measured until the temperature of approx. 210 °C is reached. Between approx. 210 °C and approx. 240 °C an exothermic effect was visible followed by a sharp endothermic effect.

The occurred reactions/effects were apparently so strong that the measurement device showed an error message after this effect. The crucible containing the sample was thrown around and no longer on the measurement position. Therefore the phase after the effect is not valid.

Due to the fact that the crucible was destroyed and both parts were sticking together a repetition was not performed. The device had to be cleaned very intensely.

Conclusions:
No boiling point could be detected. A strong exothermal change of the sample between approx. 210 °C and 240 °C was detected.
Executive summary:

The thermal stability and decomposition point of diisobutyl phosphate was investigated by DTA/DSC corresponding to A.1., Council Regulations EC No 440/2008 and OECD 103 / OECD 113. The sample was weighed in a crucible made of aluminum, cooled down in a DTA/DSC-system to - 100 °C, tempered for 10 minutes and then heated up to 450 °C (heating rate 5 K/min) in air (1013 kPa). In comparison with an inert sample (empty crucible) the temperature difference and the heat effect was recorded.

No boiling point could be detected. A strong exothermal change of the sample between approx. 210 °C and 240 °C was recorded, which can be regarded as decomposition of the sample.
