First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice:

Consult a physician. Move out of dangerous area. Do not leave the victim unattended. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Protection of first-aiders

No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

If inhaled:

Chemical burns must be treated promptly by a physician. If breathed in, move person into fresh air. If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. Keep respiratory tract clear. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of skin contact:

Chemical burns must be treated promptly by a physician. If on skin, rinse well with water. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

In case of eye contact:

Chemical burns must be treated promptly by a physician. Small amounts splashed into yes can cause irreversible tissue damage and blindness. Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Continue rinsing eyes during transport to hospital. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

If swallowed:

Take victim immediately to hospital. Chemical burns must be treated promptly by a physician. Rinse mouth with water. DO NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by a physician or poison control center. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the lungs. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Keep respiratory tract clear. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Dispose of wastes in an approved waste disposal facility.

Persons susceptible to skin sensitisation problems or asthma, allergies, chronic or recurrent respiratory disease should not be employed in any process in which this mixture is being used. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not breathe vapours or spray mist. Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms. Keep in the original container or an approved alternative made from a compatible material, kept tightly closed when not in use. Avoid spark promoters. Ground/bond container and equipment. These alone may be insufficient to remove static electricity. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

General industrial hygiene practice. When using do not eat or drink. When using do not smoke. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
