biodegradability was investigated according to OECD Guideline 301B (BASF
SE, 2013) and OECD Guideline 301D (Drake, 2011) in two different
experiments. The Closed Bottle Test (OECD 301D) analyses the dissolved
oxygen concentration in the inoculum. After 28 days, 61 % degradation
was measured in this case. Hence the substance is assigned as readily
For the CO2
Evolution Test (OECD 301B), a Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyser was
used in order to determine the Total Inorganic Carbon (TIC) as well as
the Dissolved Oxygen Carbon (DOC). CO2 production is the indicator
concerning biodegradation. Although Butylaminoethanol attained 70 - 80 %
degradation, the 10-day window was slightly missed based on the mean
biodegradation values of both replicates TS1 and TS2. However, the
substance clearly met the criteria for ready biodegradability of
chemicals according to the OECD criteria in TS 1 (10-d window: >/=10%:
day 11, >/=60%: day 21). The same evaluation applies to TS2 (10-d
window: >/=10%: day 7, >/=60%: day 17/18).

investigations are not intended since Butylaminoethanol was found to be
readily biodegradable. The endpoints concerning biodegradation in "water
and sediment" as well as in "soil" can be waived in accordance to REACH,
