Description of key information

The effect of 1,4 -dichlorobenzene on methanogens was measured by an test on methane release from acetate in the presence of chemical additives (similar to ISO 8192). The 48 h-IC50 was 86 mg/L for methanogenesis. For respiration, the 12 h-IC50 was 330 mg/L. The effect of 1,4 -dichlorobenzene on Nitrosomonas activity was measured as a nitrification inhibition method comparable to ISO/DIS 9509. The 24 h-IC50 was 86 mg/L (Blum and Speece 1991).
