Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
10 August 2015
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The analytical method is 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy: A dissolved sample is treated
with RF pulses in a strong, homogeneous magnetic field. At their resonance frequency the atom nuclei with
magnetic properties absorb RF energy and release it afterwards, generating a detectable NMR spectrum.
The nuclei (e.g. the protons, present at the different sites of organic molecules) provide a spectrum
containing information about
* the chemical surroundings of the nuclei at their individual shifted resonance frequencies /ppm
= "chemical shift"
* the stoichiometric relations (integrals I) between these different sites
* the number of nuclei of other sites which can interact via through-bond-coupling.
NMR Spectroscopy allows the analysis of complex mixtures in the sample.
