Description of key information

From the key source study, the overall ER50 and NOER was 0.041 lbs/acre (equivalent to 0.061 mg a.i./kg dws) and 0.024 lbs/acre (equivalent to 0.036 mg a.i./kg dws) for vegetative vigor study.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for terrestrial plants:
0.061 mg/kg soil dw
Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for terrestrial plants:
0.036 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

Data on the toxicity of the substance toterrestrial plants are not available. In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5., the assessment is based on the structurally analogue substance (CAS 1689-99-2). Please refer to the attached analogue justification for further details on the read-across approach.

In the key source study (1990), the toxicity to terrestrial plants was investigated in a 14-day test on seedling emergence (application by incorporation with soil substrate) and on vegetative vigor (application as spray) according to US EPA 1222-1 and 123-1 guidelines. Ten species (4 monocotyledonous and 6 dicotyledonous) were exposed to some of the nominal concentrations of 0.006, 0.012, 0.024, 0.048, 0.095, 0.19 and 0.38 Ibs a.s./A, alongside with a control, for seedling emergence and vegetative vigor. The lowest ER50 and NOER was 0.041 lbs/acre (equivalent to 0.061 mg a.i./kg dws) and 0.024 lbs/acre (equivalent to 0.036 mg a.i./kg dws) for vegetative vigor study after 14 days exposure for survival and shoot height and weight.
