Conclusions:
In the present test conducted according to OECD guideline 115 (1995). The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution of the test item m-Xylylenebismaleimide was determined to be 60.39 mN/m at 20 °C. Considering that distilled water has a surface tension of 72.75 mN/m at 20 °C and the test item showed a surface tension higher than 60 mN/m under the conditions of this referring method, the test item should be regarded as being non surface-active material.

In the present test conducted according to OECD guideline 115 (1995) the surface tension of m-Xylylenebismaleimide was determined using the recommended ring method. A saturated solution of the test item was filled in a test vessel and a platinumring was placed in the test vessel until 3 mm depth of immersion were achieved. The maximum force that can be exerted without separation of the attached liquid layer from the ring was measured. The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution of the test item m-Xylylenebismaleimide was determined at 20 °C to be 60.39 mN/m. Considering that distilled water has a surface tension of 72.75 mN/m at 20 °C and the test item showed a surface tension higher than 60 mN/m under the conditions of this referring method, the test item should be regarded as being non surface-active material.
