Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 72 hr toxicity (growth rate and biomass effects) of 2 -Bromopropane to Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata (alga) was studied in accordance with
OECD Guideline 201. The following results were obtained in the key reliable study:
The 72 hour ErC50for effect on growth rate was 231 mg/L.
The 72 hour NOEC for effect on growth rate was 209 mg/L.
The 72 hour EbC50for effect on area under growth curve (biomass) was 224 mg/L.
The 72 hour NOEC for effect on area under growth curve (biomass) was 152 mg/L.
Results should be interpreted with caution because the test substance concentration was not maintained above 80% of the initial concentration. Therefore, results are based on initial measured concentrations. These results are in general agreemenet with the one other reliable study (due to elevatedanalytical quantitation limits, results were based on extrapolated concentrations below the quantitation limit).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
224 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
152 mg/L
