Additional information

On the basis of available data 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl) ethyltriethoxysilane has low volatility, and low adsorption potential. Therefore, any 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl) ethyltriethoxysilane released to the environment is expected to be found in the aquatic compartment.

2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl) ethyltriethoxysilane hydrolyses with a half-life 29.5h at pH7 and 25°C, see Section 4.1.1.1, to ultimately produce 2-(3,4-epoxyhexyl) ethyl silanetriol and ethanol. Ethanol is readily biodegradable. The silanol hydrolysis product is not expected to biodegrade to any significant extent.
