A degradation rate of 28% in 28 days was determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol and in compliance with GLP. The substance is therefore considered to be not biodegradable. The hydrolysis half-life of the substance (29.5 h at 25°C, pH 7) indicates that the degradation will relate to the hydroylsis products, 2-(3,4-epoxyhexyl)ethyl silanetriol and ethanol. Ethanol is exspected to biodegrade rapidly and contributes 6 of 14 carbon atoms in the substance.
