Additional information

A study was conducted similar to OECD 107 to determine the partition coefficient of 2-methylimidazole. Using the flask method the partition coefficient of 2-methylimidazole was determined to be 0.22 at 25°C. Furthermore A literature review was conducted. In a weight of evidence approach the literature values were evaluated. The Syracuse Research Coperation, Physical Properties Database reports the partition coefficient to be 0.24 at 25 °C as an experimental value. The Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB) reported the partition coefficient to be also 0.24 and the Journal of Chemical & Engeneering Data reported the partition coefficient to be 0.17 at 25 °C. Four independent sources report the partition coefficient in the same range. Thus, a partition coefficient of 0.22 at 25°C which is an experimental result was chosen as key value.
